82 classic nursery rhymes with their origins and historical explanations

Robert Lacey re-presents 82 of the most beloved nursery rhymes in a shared reading experience for children, parents and grandparents.

Nursery Rhymes With Pictures come to life through 151 classic drawings by the early 20th century stage designer and illustrator Claud Lovat Fraser (1890-1921), vividly updated for 2024 by artist Ben Coppin.

Ben Coppin is a young illustrator and animator already noted for his zany view of life, which he has applied to the updating of the original drawings of Claud Lovat Fraser on which this book is based.

This book was inspired by a Claud Lovat Fraser illustration of ‘bouncy butler’ which adorned a Christmas card Robert received in December 2021, published by the Royal Academy of Arts. So, early in the New Year, he hastened to Piccadilly to leaf through their fine dossier of Lovat drawings – and hey presto!
